Graham Manou and his team will embark on their 2011 Tour de Heart in June from Darwin to Adelaide - a staggering 3,026 kilometres.
The team will leave balmy Darwin at 7.30am on June 16 and travel through the heart of Australia until they reach Adelaide on July 9.
Graham has once again chosen the children’s charity HeartKids SA as beneficiary of the funds he raises from the 2011 ride.
HeartKids SA supports children with congenital or acquired heart disease and their families. Graham has chosen HeartKids SA so that he can help with the huge financial burden placed on families to access their child’s life-saving medical treatment.
Graham, who was born with a hole in his heart, understands the challenges these children face in their day-to-day lives and is hoping to raise much needed funds for new teleconferencing technology which will enable doctors from SA and Victoria to better communicate and treat patients.
The 2011 Tour de Heart is the fourth ride in five years by Graham, who has been joined by good mate and cycling enthusiast Andrew Eime on each ride. Last year the pair crossed the Nullarbor from Perth to Adelaide; in 2008 the pair rode from Mount Kosciusko to Lake Eyre; and in the inaugural ride in 2007 conquered Alice Springs to Adelaide.
